We must focus our energy and efforts on understanding the processes required to attain excellence and the hard work that is necessary to sustain excellence, as individuals, but more importantly as an organization. MALWAN JOHNSON FOR INTERNATIONAL FIRST VICE PRESIDENT

Malwan A. Johnson’s life story is a shining example of leadership, resilience, and service—qualities that make him an exceptional candidate for International First Vice President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Born on the Ft. Sill, Oklahoma military base to Malcolm A. Johnson, Sr., and Wanda L. Johnson, Malwan’s upbringing instilled in him the values of discipline, community, and service. Growing up in Washington, DC, alongside his siblings Charlene, Waddell, and Malcolm Jr., he developed a strong foundation of family unity and a commitment to collective progress.

Malwan’s educational and personal journey demonstrates his ability to excel in challenging environments. At Towson University, he balanced the demanding roles of a student-athlete, showcasing his leadership on the football field while earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration in 2003. This combination of technical expertise and business acumen prepared him for a career rooted in innovation and strategic thinking, traits that define his leadership style today.

Malwan’s initiation into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. through the Theta Omicron Chapter in spring 2000 marked the beginning of his enduring dedication to the fraternity’s mission. Over the past 24 years, he has held pivotal roles, including Chapter President of Theta Omicron, Undergraduate Chapter Advisor, Maryland State Director, Eastern Region Social Action Director, and his current positions as Chapter President of Epsilon Nu Sigma Alumni Chapter in Baltimore County, Maryland, and International Director of Social Action. These leadership roles highlight his ability to serve with distinction across all levels of the fraternity, bringing vision, dedication, and a focus on impactful action.

As a fraternity leader, Malwan has championed initiatives addressing health disparities, mental health education, and social justice. His advocacy reflects his belief in equality, dignity, and community empowerment—values that align perfectly with the responsibilities of International First Vice President. His ability to inspire others and mobilize resources to drive meaningful change is evident in his leadership and community service.

Malwan expanded his expertise in 2006 by earning a Master of Science degree in Computer Technology from the University of Maryland University College, along with his Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification in Wireless Technology. These accomplishments demonstrate his relentless pursuit of excellence and his ability to adapt to evolving challenges in the fields of technology and leadership.

Professionally, he serves as a Senior Wireless Network Architect/Engineer with over 20 years of experience across federal, private, and public sectors, earning accolades for his ability to implement strategic initiatives and improve organizational efficiency. In 2022, Malwan and his children launched Anelanah Strategic Partners, LLC, a consulting company specializing in IT Networking, Professional Services, Entertainment, and Logistics. This entrepreneurial venture is a testament to his commitment to creating opportunities and building legacies for future generations.

As a father, Malwan exemplifies integrity, love, and perseverance. He is a proud parent to three daughters—Nevaeh, Nalani, and Nyleah—and has expanded his family by adopting his nephew, Antwan. His dedication to his children mirrors his leadership ethos: nurturing, empowering, and leading by example.

 

Brother Johnson’s life is a testament to the impact of a leader committed to service. His journey from Ft. Sill to Washington, DC, and beyond is marked by his dedication to uplifting communities, advancing the mission of Phi Beta Sigma, and inspiring those around him. His extensive experience, visionary leadership, and passion for service make him uniquely qualified to serve as International First Vice President, ensuring that Phi Beta Sigma continues to thrive and make a meaningful difference in the world.
